Abstract

For any Organization in modern society, efficient personnel management is essential to achieve it¢¥s desired goals.
The number of personnel in nursing department is almost one-third of the total hospital employees. It is important to maintain satisfaction of the nurses in order to ensure holistic nursing care by the nursing personnel.
The purpose of this paper is to identity the factors which influence nurses job satisfaction. Descriptive study was designed.
Data was collected from August 1, 1987 to August 15, 1987, utilizing -SRA (The Science Research Associates) Employee inventory.
The subjects of the study were 201 nurses currently employed in two general hospitals in Seoul.
Data was analyzed by Computer using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). Frequency and percentage were used to describe characteristics of the subjects.
To determine statistical differences among the variables, One-way ANOVA, t-test was used.
The results of the study were as follows
1. For general characteristics of the subjects, 45.8% of the nurses were between 24 to 26 years old, 69.7% of them have 1 to 2 years of experiences. Those who have experience transfer from department to department consisted of 52.7 %. Among those 31.0% were transferred on their wishes, while 69.0% were given no choice.
2. The items with higher scores of dissatisfaction were "the sense of belongingness in the department" ¢¥as an important members of the department" and "the cooperative attitudes among the colleagues".
